5th Annual Spree For All
Visitors of all ages, health levels and physical abilities will enjoy this award-winning hiking series. Complete at least five hikes -- on five different trails, the same trail or any combination of trails -- to receive hiking awards. Hikes must be completed by May 1 through June 30. Rewards are FREE to Summit County residents. Out-of-county residents pay to receive their hiking awards ($10 for first-year hikers, $5 for veteran hikers.) Hiking forms and the list of trails will be available starting April 15 at summitmetroparks.org, the visitors center at F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm (1828 Smith Rd, Akron), the park district's administration offices (975 Treaty Line Rd, Akron) and by calling 1-800-23-SUMMA.

Fun on the Farm
Interactive farm programs for preschoolers ages 2 - 6 and their favorite grown-ups! Every Friday features a different area of Hale Farm & Village and includes a craft, story, and snack related to the day’s theme. Fee: $8 children, $7 members. One adult free per child. Bill Jamerson: Civilian Conservation Corps
Michigan-based author Bill Jamerson will present a music and storytelling program about the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). The program includes a short clip from his PBS film, Camp Forgotten — The Civilian Conservation Corps in Michigan; excerpts from his new novel, Big Shoulder; and original songs on guitar. Jamerson is a noted historian who has presented at numerous CCC reunions around the country. This year is the 75th anniversary of the CCC. CVNP joins the national celebration in recognition of the CCC’s contribution to building many familiar Virginia Kendall structures, including Happy Days Lodge. Admission: $10 adults, $8 CVNPA members, and $5 children ages 3 - 12. General seating. Advance sales are available by calling (330) 657-2909. Happy Days Lodge, 7 - 9 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
