Voices of the Valley Audio Tour
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad invites you to immerse yourself in the stories and sounds of the Cuyahoga Valley. Hear tales about the earliest settlement of the valley, the coming of the Ohio & Erie Canal and Valley Railway, the creation of Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the return of wildlife, and more. Combined, the stories reveal the people and events that have shaped the landscape viewed from the train window. The audio tour is available on all excursion trips between Rockside and Akron Northside stations as part of the ticket price. No additional fee is charged. The program will play automatically using GPS technology on individual headsets to let you become engrossed in the program. A captioned version of the program is available.

Cuyahoga Challenge
Challenge yourself to hike, run, or walk your dog on 10 of the designated trails. Participants who complete 10 trails by September 30 will receive a commemorative patch designed by Chuck Ayers, local artist and illustrator of the comic strip Crankshaft. This hiking series is a great way to discover the beauty the national park has to offer and to stay fit. For more information call (330) 657-2909 ext. 106.

Fall Hiking Spree
Summit County's fall foliage is on display during the 47th annual Fall Hiking Spree. Hike at least eight designated trails to receive hiking
rewards. Hikes must be completed September 1 through November 30. Rewards are free to Summit County residents, out-of-county residents pay to receive rewards ($10 for first-year hikers, $5 for veteran hikers). Hiking forms with the list of trails are available at summitmetroparks.org, at the visitors center at F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm, the park district's administrative offices and all Acme Fresh Market stores. For more information, call 330-865-8065.

Explore the length of beautiful Cuyahoga Valley National Park from the comfort of a vintage train car. As you peer through the windows you might catch a glimpse of white tailed deer, blue heron hunting in the Cuyahoga River, families enjoying a hike along the Ohio & Erie Towpath Trail and historic buildings that hold within their frames stories of those who have called this valley home. This is a three-hour round trip. Departs from Rockside Station at 9 a.m., 12:45 p.m., and 4:05 p.m. or Akron Northside Station at 10:40 a.m. and 2:25 p.m.

Akron Explorer: Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad
Combine a train ride through the heart of Cuyahoga Valley National Park with a visit to one of Akron’s many exciting attractions. Choose from the Akron Art Museum, Akron Zoo, Hale Farm & Village or enjoy lunch at the Spaghetti Warehouse and explore places like the Mustill Store or take a walk along the Ohio & Erie Canalway. Additional departures from Peninsula Depot (9:40 am and 1:20 pm) or Rockside Station at 1:00 pm.

Peninsula Explorer:Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad
Journey through the heart of Cuyahoga Valley National Park to the historic Village of Peninsula. Enjoy a hike or bike along the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, explore the unique shops for that special item, and treat yourself to lunch at a local restaurant. Additional departures from Akron Northside Station (11:35 am) and Rockside Station (1:30 pm).

Canal Explorer: Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad
Board the train, and you will soon be transported through CVNP to the Canal Visitor Center. This canal-era structure and its associated lock will give you a glimpse into the past. Feel the white oak of the whaler gates, marvel at the workings of a canal lock, and explore the exhibits that take you on a journey over 10,000 years in the making. Akron Northside Station, 10:40 a.m. and 2:25 p.m. Peninsula Depot, 11:20 a.m. and 3 p.m.
